Salary Range: $4,201 - $5,642
Starting salary: $4,201/month

About the Campus Security Officer

Under the general supervision of the District Director of Security, the Campus Security Officer performs security work to protect life and property; enforces laws and ordinances, maintains order, and prevents and investigates crime, security, and safety activities.

This is a non-permanent classified position, not to exceed 18 months.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Patrol campus buildings and grounds and enforce institution rules and regulations.

  • Investigate accidents and crimes, issue citations, gather evidence, and assist law enforcement.

  • Direct traffic and patrol parking areas.

  • Maintain surveillance and deter criminal activity.

  • Respond to dispatched calls and monitor alarm systems.

  • Investigate incidents and complete reports.

  • Conduct patrols and de-escalate or control situations.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Proficiency with IT, social media, web use and investigations.

  • Ability to handle emergencies and conflict without escalation.

  • Ability to investigate incidents and write reports.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to maintain reports and filing systems.

  • Ability to work in a team environment.

  • Computer and office software skills.

  • Ability to work varied/rotating shifts.

Desired Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Criminal Justice or similar, Criminal Justice Training Commission certification, or equivalent education/experience.

  • Knowledge of campus law enforcement and investigation procedures.

  • Two or more years of campus security, police, or equivalent experience/training.

  • Higher education experience.

Conditions of Employment

  • Full-time, 40 hours/week.

  • Overtime eligible.

  • Valid driver's license required.

  • Criminal background check required.

  • Local or regional travel may be required.

  • Uniforms, equipment, training, and certifications provided.
