Bookkeeper, In House, Part Time

Location: Spokane, WA

Reports To: Director of Operations; works closely with President

 

Position Summary

The In-House Bookkeeper will manage the financial records of the rapidly growing start-up Zero Emissions Northwest (ZEN) and its subsidiary The Giving Grid (TGG). This is a part-time hourly position requiring ~20 hours/month, with flexible scheduling. Must be able to come to the office once a month minimum. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, proficient in Quickbooks Online, and has a strong understanding of GAAP. Commitment to maintaining accurate and confidential financial records is paramount.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Accounts Management: Process and record all financial transactions: accounts payable and receivable.
  • Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank, lender, and credit card reconciliations.
  • General Ledger: Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate allocation and classing of all entries.
  • Reporting: Generate monthly financial reports, including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheets. Prepare and submit reports to lenders, partners, and stakeholders as requested.
  • Compliance: Assist CPA with annual tax preparation and ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
  • Expense Tracking: Organize and track all business expenses, ensuring accurate grant spending.
  • Invoicing: Monthly invoicing and monitoring balances for ZEN customers and TGG customers.
  • Payroll: Ensure accuracy for payroll and IRA contribution and accurate linking from Gusto into QB.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with ZEN team members and external partners to enhance effectiveness.

 

Qualifications

  • Experience, Education: Proven experience as a Bookkeeper or in a similar financial role. References required. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred. Solid understanding of bookkeeping and accounting principles (GAAP). Ideal experience with rapid business growth. 
  • Technical Skills: Expertise with accounting software (especially QuickBooks Online). Experience working with county taxes a major bonus.
  • Skills: Clean data entry skills, emphasizing accuracy and timelyness; ability to work with sensitive, confidential information. Highly organized and excellent time management skills. Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation: Competitive hourly wage, commensurate with experience.
  • Schedule: ~20 hours/month; flexible schedule can be discussed during the interview process. 
  • Location: Work from home, and, must be able to come to the office minimum once a month to work in person with Director of Operations and President.
