The salary range represents the earning potential for this position, through training, evaluations and years spent working in this position with Spokane Colleges.

About the Manager of Student Programs
JOB SUMMARY
The Manager of Student Programs (Leadership Programs & Student Government) is responsible for oversight and supervision of activities, events, and programs associated with student funded programs at Spokane Falls Community College (SFCC) and the SFCC Pullman Campus. These include advising the Associated Student Government (ASG) and its activities, providing leadership to student clubs and organizations and their advisors, and supervising the Student Union Building recreation center and the student-run food pantry.
The Manager is charged with providing and modeling a philosophy of student-centered advising that is empowering, developmental, and creates a culture of learning opportunities and experiences designed to teach leadership skills, foster civic engagement, and support personal and professional growth among college students. The Manager reports to the Dean of Students.
The Manager is responsible for partnering with relevant college and district stakeholders, including Campus Security and the Dean of Students Office as needed, to appropriately anticipate, manage, and make reasonable and informed efforts to mitigate risk associated with student events. The Manager brings strong knowledge of the fundamentals and principles of risk management in student activities in a public higher education setting and provides leadership to the campus community in evaluating activities for risk and making recommendations for strategies that reduce risk.
The Manager provides leadership to student leaders in ASG and student clubs and organizations on all issues related to fiscal management, budgeting, and purchasing. The Manager also assists with emergency management issues for the Student Union Building and works with SFCC dining vendors in the Student Union on issues related to contracts and facilities.
Under the direction and guidance of the Dean of Students, the Manager may assist the Dean periodically with outreach, support, and/or case management for select student cases that have been referred to the Dean's office for either student conduct matters or issues of concern. In this role, the Manager is expected to maintain discretion, and respect for matters related to privacy of student records and information.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in student affairs, education, or a related field; or an equivalent mix of education and experience that demonstrates competency for this position.
• Knowledge of best practices for professional advising of student government, clubs, and/or student organizations in a higher education setting.
• Experience planning, organizing, and implementing student events and activities.
• Experience in planning, managing, and reconciling budgets.
• Excellent communication skills, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to handle stressful situations with diplomacy and professionalism.
• Ability to work flexible hours (night and weekends) for events.
• Ability to travel periodically for conferences, meetings, and events.
• Demonstrated commitment to fostering and supporting a teaching, learning, and working environment that honors diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility.
• Commitment to always promoting the welfare and best interests of students.
• Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations, including the skills to connect with those with varied communication and support needs.
• Proficiency with office software including Microsoft Office suite and video conferencing, etc.
• Ability to comply with district policy, procedures and directives, state and federal regulations, orders, and statutes, and collective bargaining agreements.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Contract 12-month position.
• This position is overtime eligible.
• Requires local or regional travel. If using a personal vehicle, proof of driver's license and car insurance is required.
• Criminal background check is required.
• May be required to work alternate shifts.
Person hired must be able to provide acceptable documentation of U.S. Citizenship or lawful authorization to work in the United States. This is an absolute condition of employment.
