Reporting to the Vice President of Procurement & Profit Centers, this position is the driving force behind our multiple Washington store locations in Spokane, Kennewick, Yakima, Wenatchee, and Lewiston, ID. The Director will take the lead in shaping the financial and marketing success of each of the stores. The role of Director of Cash & Carry Stores, encompasses overseeing product merchandising, expense control, pursuit of sales and profitability objectives, spearhead the development and execution of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) and associated initiatives. Mentoring and coaching, this position plays a pivotal role in the growth and development of each store's management team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Support a store culture that focuses on initiating and creating a superior customer experience.
  • Manage monthly the Profit and Loss (P&L) and assist in the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) budgeting process; maintain budgeted sales and profits, with a focus on increasing sales, and managing shrinkage. 
  • Implement and supervise strict controls regarding inventory standard operating procedures (SOPs), cash, checks, credit, and other critical aspects of the business, ensuring that all staff complies with Company policies, procedures, and store SOPs. 
  • Build and implement marketing plans, to include events, promotions, and effective store strategies to improve sales and increase customer count. 
  • Responsible for monitoring the performance of store management, and oversight on employee disciplinary actions in consultation with the Company's VP of Human Resources when necessary.
  • Coach each store’s management team of their goals, sales, and shrinkage targets, and ensure the understanding of the overall objectives.
  • Support, develop, and monitor training programs with the Corporate Trainer to increase employee knowledge base, productivity, safety compliance and accuracy to improve sales, profits, morale, and other significant factors.
  • Actively communicate with the store management teams about all merchandising and marketing programs and oversee the execution and follow-up reporting of such programs.
  • Manage and grow the existing store efficiencies by establishing priorities, allocating resources, and serving as the strategic leader instituting proven best practices and procedures.
  • Devise long-term business plans, thinking at a deeply strategic level about optimization and growth.
  • Steer excellence in the financial and operational drivers of the business.
  • Identify strategic opportunities by leveraging data and performance insights.
  • Manage promotional strategy and marketing development budgets.
  • Ensure that the facility is well maintained and is a safe environment for staff and customers.
  • This position has a requirement for the selected candidate to live within our “Cash & Carry Area of Operations” which is a Approximately a 15-20 mile radius of one our following locations below:
  1. Corporate office Spokane, WA
  2. Cash & Carry, Spokane, WA
  3. Cash & Carry, Spokane Valley, WA
  4. Cash & Carry Lewiston, ID
  5. Cash & Carry Kennewick, WA
  6. Cash & Carry Union Gap, WA
  7. Cash & Carry Wenatchee, WA.

Education/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or other related field preferred.

Related Experience:

  • Minimum of fifteen (15) years of progressive growth in a grocery environment required.
  • Must have a combination of at least ten (10) years of retail grocery marketing, management, and/or supervisory experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Possess strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Exhibits the strong desire and ability to build on the customer experience, and build professional relationships with the client base, maintaining a strong, consistent customer focus.
  • Possession of a strong business acumen that allows business decisions to be made quickly and logically. 
  • Possess excellent leadership skills, be highly motivated and self-driven 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skill.
  • Must maintain adaptability and the willingness to assist in accomplishing the everyday store objectives to achieve the overall annual goals.
  • Working knowledge of reviewing and interpreting financial data.
  • This position requires 50-80% travel between stores weekly and the ability to work a flexible schedule that may include early mornings, late evenings, and/or holidays/weekends.
